UP AND AT ‘EM

Biking and swimming and rock climbing, oh my! Whether you prefer a hike with friends or a quick surf session at Morro, there’s something for everyone.

“I can hop on my mountain bike, be on the trails in a couple of minutes, go for a seven mile ride, and come back about an hour and a half later. It’s so easy to get a good ride in before or between class,” aerospace engineering freshman Kellen Andrew said.
“For the past month or so, I’ve really been incorporating swimming, which I’ve been doing since my toddler days, into my life again,” biology freshman Sinead Swayne said. “For me, swimming is a way for me to get exercise, without it seeming like a chore.
“Aside from a way to get my heart rate up, swimming is also a way for me to reflect and plan for the future,” said Swayne. “Swimming grounds me.”
“I like the challenge. Each route is its own challenge. It takes my mind off school,” electrical engineering third year Andrew Ferguson said on rock climbing.
“I try to utilize The Rec as much as I can while I’m here. Between using my favorite machines and taking classes in the studios, I always have a reason to check in everyday,” said economics freshman Danica Bastress.
